THE SOUND OF MUSIC is a 1965 release with relevance to all times. It is an
inspirational classic with beautifully interwoven music, history, education and a
good story line. It shows us scenic Austria, and I should add that the camera crew
should be commended for this. The performance was superb. I could watch this
every year with my family, without fail. My rating for this movie is a five star.
Julie Andrews plays the part of a governess to seven children whose father is
widowed. He is a naval officer who is very regimental in his show of love. The
children drove away many governesses in their employ. This time around the
governess wins over the father and the children with music. She taught them
lessons in love by teaching them music. Her genuineness, perseverance, integrity,
and courage are important attributes in building personality. What I liked most
were the songs at intermittent times that blended so well into the story line. It was
a beautiful continuation of the story.
In the later part of the view there is a jolt that evokes suspense. The family had to
make a choice to flee Austria because of the Nazi takeover. It sets your mind
wondering more about the Nazis and World War 11. The family participates in a
National singing Competition that made a perfect gateway for them.
My best part of the movie was the show tune that inspired me to pursue my
dreams. The lyrics are hereunder:"CLIMB EVERY MOUNTAIN, FORD EVER
STREAM, FOLLOW EVERY RAINBOW, 'TIL YOU FIND YOUR DREAM. A DREAM
THAT WILL NEED ALL THE LOVE YOU CAN GIVE, EVERY DAY OF YOUR LIFE FOR
AS LONG AS YOU LIVE. "If you can bear with a bit of yodeling, and if you want to
uplift your spirits with a sensational and relaxing movie, then this would be your
choice. It is no doubt inspirational, and my all time favourite movie.
