This uprising & riots that later continued were huge

     moments in history. Not only did it inspire the US, it
     inspired other countries to fight back too!



     HERE ARE A FEW KEY MOMENTS:



     1. In 1970, the first Gay Pride parade occurred in
     New York City starting at the Stonewall Inn.


     2. In 1978, the original design of the rainbow gay

     pride flag was created and displayed during the San
     Francisco Gay Freedom Day Parade. You can thank
     Gilbert Baker for his design of the flag.



     3. In 1981, there was the first Pride march in history
     in Paris, France.


     4. In 2006, Rio, Brazil, broke the record for the

     biggest pride march. There were 2.5 million who at
     tended the march.


     5. In 2017, the first same sex marriage occurred in

     Sydney, Australia.


                                                           Due to COVID-19 last year, people were not able to
                                                           fully celebrate all the normal activities  and instead

                                                           people participated in virtual parties.


                                                           With this year looking better and some people being
                                                           vaccinated, events in the US are occured and people
                                                           were able to celebrate pride.  . NYC's theme for pride

                                                           this year is "The Fight Continues." This weekend the
                                                           activities in NYC are a rally, a hour long concert
                                                           featuring Miley Cyrus, a run, street fair, and a pride

                                                           march.


                                                           Hopefully next year will be even better and more
                                                           things will continue to get better for the LGBTQ+
                                                           community.
