The FIFA Women's World Cup was founded in
1991, meaning it's only been around for 28 years
- whereas the men's World Cup was founded in
1930. What a difference!
WHO WON THE FIRST COMPETITION?
The very first winners of the FIFA Women's World
Cup were the United States - their star-spangled
nation really is full of stripes and stars!
WHERE WAS THE FIRST ONE HELD?
The first tournament took place in China. It has
since been held in many other countries, such as
Sweden, Germany, the United States and Canada.
It was most recently hosted in France.
HOW MANY FANS?
Despite it being relatively new and young in its
age, a record number of 750 million tuned in to
the 2015 tournament held in Canada.
TICKET SALES 2019
For this year's WWC, by 20th June, an astonishing
number of 1,094,639 tickets were purchased by
fans across the globe.
